DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 30

4.55 KEMPTON

NASCENT STAR has yet to register a win in six starts so far to date but he hasn’t performed without promise and following on from his best effort on the figures at Chester last time out, he has enough in his make-up to muscle his way into the conversation.

Housed in stall nine of 11 was a rough starting point on the Roodee 11 days ago and to add further to his woes, he was forced to race out wide for majority of the journey after failing in his bid to obtain some cover.

To his great credit, however, he kept on manfully to the task at hand to pick up some pieces late on to finish a respectable fourth and with the speed figure speaking favourably of the race in question, his performance reads better than it did at first glance.

A no show at Wolverhampton previously when once again events didn’t pan out in his favour, his effort here over six furlongs back in August is worth upgrading on account of him trying to make his challenged up the slowest part of the track (inside) and with the form of that contest boosted by the fifth (Crowned) twice since, Hugo Palmer’s inmate should be capable of going well off a mark of 66.

TIERNAN wouldn’t be one for maximum stakes, as one win in 12 starts implies, but he is not short of ability when inclined to put his best foot forward and, with the hope he can operate at the same level as he did here two outings ago,

Finally, off the mark at Hamilton four starts ago, the son of Dubawi has ridden a wave of emotions since but his run here earlier in the month suggested he might have a bright future on an all-weather surface should connections choose to go down that route.

Held up towards the rear, the four-year-old came home to good effect down the outside to finish a never-nearer second and with the speed figure pin-pointing the level of his achievements, there is every reason to feel upbeat about his chances of going one place better on his return visit.
