DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

MONDAY OCTOBER 12

2.54 YARMOUTH

YOKOHAMA didn’t quite get home on very testing ground at Haydock last time out but it was still a decent effort nonetheless and now back on a more favourable surface at a track where he has gone well in the past, John Butler’s gelding make plenty of appeal from an each-way perspective.

The eye was drawn to how the son of Make Believe travelled through much of a competitive affair at the Merseyside venue but ultimately, he had no more to offer in the last furlong, fading into a creditable third.

However, considering that was his first run for three months, he is afforded a pass in terms of a possible lack of fitness and he is better judged on his two big performances on the speed figures, when winning at Newbury back in May and his third over today’s C&D a month later.

Now he has enjoyed a recent run under his belt, there is every chance he will be capable of running to a similar level and if so, the five-year-old is fancied to be right in the mix.

YOKOHAMA – 1-point each-way@6-1 (four places)
