DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 14

3.20 PUNCHESTOWN

Ted Walsh wouldn’t have that many horses in training nowadays, but he does pop up with the odd winner or two throughout the season and one his contributors last term, FRAIRY ROAD, rates a sorting choice in her bid to get the Kildare handler off the mark for this campaign.

The six-year-old mare has been kept ticking along on the flat during the summer months and she didn’t perform too badly in a warm heat for the grade at Navan last time out.

Looking back at her last effort over hurdles, her sixth behind Beauvallon at the big festival back in April wasn’t too bad considering she was a 40-1 poke and with the speed figure also backing up that view, she has a better chance than her odds imply back at a more realistic level, over a track where she won a bumper back in the day.

FRAIRY ROAD – ½ point each-way@18-1 (five places)

8.00 KEMPTON

LONDONER was always likely to find a mile around Southwell on the sharp side last time out and he makes far more appeal now he races over a C&D where he has gone well in the past.

To be fair to the six-year-old chestnut, he didn’t run too badly in the circumstances to finish a creditable fourth behind quicker types in the shape of Shipbourne, Kalokalo and Talis Evolvere and his performance when runner-up to Song N Dance over only half a furlong further at Wolverhampton wasn’t too shabby either.

Third in this corresponding race last year, Daniel & Clare Kubler’s gelding went on to finish runner-up in the final of the series a month later and with the same prize likely to have been his target for some time, a positive result should be forthcoming on route.

LONDONER – 1-point win@7-2
