DAILY RACING PREVIEW BY ANDY HOLDING

TUESDAY OCTOBER 20

The recent form figures of GO ATHLETICO don’t look all that pretty, but he has run a good bit better than the bare results have suggested and he is well worth another opportunity to put the record straight.

Most horses usually must wait quite some time to repair the damage of a previous race that didn’t go their way but luckily for Ado McGuiness’ inmate and connections, they have only had to stew in their own juice for five days.

The veteran of 61 races, many of which have taken place at the Kildare venue, was noted going well heading down to the halfway stage in a similar contest to the one he faces here this afternoon but he unfortunately got the door slammed in his own face at a crucial stage and he ended up not getting out in the clear until too late.

He did, however, finish off his race in taking enough fashion and he hasn’t got too much to find with his old rival Nouval Espoir, on the evidence of that run.

It was a similar story over the same C&D previously when he came from miles off the pace on the wrong part of the track to grab fourth late on and providing his draw down the centre of the course doesn’t hold him back in any way, the son of Goken is in the sort of form to jump all over today’s field.

ANVIKA had no right to win from where she was positioned at halfway here the other day, so in makes perfect sense to side with Shiela Lavery’s mare while clearly in the rudest of health.

Drawn 22 at the Kildare venue at the last meeting, the daughter of Dandy Man was understandably dropped right out to be given some sort of chance of being competitive in the latter stages but even so, to pull off the feat was some effort on her part.

The way she scythed her way through the field with effortless ease was eye-catching in the first part but to keep finding for pressure having expending so much energy just to get on terms was equally impressive.

Unbelievably, that was only the was only the Meath handler’s third winner this season (from 83 runners) but on the evidence of what was witnessed five days ago, there is every chance this strong-travelling mare can add to the meagre tally from today’s better draw.
